선조조 양산군수로 부임한 지 얼마 안되어
임진왜란(壬辰倭亂)이 일어나 부산진이 함락되고 동래성이 위급하다는 소식이 들리자
일거에 동래로 달려가 부사 송상현(宋相賢)고 함께 역전하다가
성이 함락되어 둘이 동시에 순절했다. 호조참의에 추증, 정려가
명해지고 양산의 충렬사에 제향되었다.
