정선 (鄭敾)

자는 원백(元伯).
호는 겸재(謙齋)·난곡(蘭谷).

  부사 정설의 현손이며,
  정시익의 아들이다.

  김창집(金昌集)의 천거로 양관에 도화서의 화원이 되어 한국 산수화의 특징을 살린 산수 사생의 진경화로 독보적인 경지를 열었다.

  심사정(沈師正)·조영석(趙營祏)과 함께 화가의 삼재로 불린다.

  벼슬은 하양과 청하의 현감을 지내고 동지중추부사에 이르렀다.

  저서에 "도설경해(圖說經解)"가 있고 작품 백여 점이 전한다.
