 홍처후 (洪處厚)

 

 


  관찰사 홍명원의 아들이다.

  1616년(광해군 8) 진사시에 합격,
  음보로 참봉이 되었다.
  이어 세자익위사 세마에 임명되었으나 사퇴,
  1629년 정시문과에 급제,
  1633년 정언으로 최명길을 탄핵하다가 제천현감으로 좌천되었다.
  1652년에 다시 수찬, 교리, 의주부윤, 경상도 관찰사, 호조참의, 동부승지, 병조참지, 참의를 지냈고,
  동지부사로 청나라에 다녀왔다.
  이어 판결사, 전라도 관찰사, 우승지를 거쳐 함경도, 경기도 관찰사, 공조참판이 되었다.

  영의정에 추증되었다.
