지돈령부사 강석덕의 아들.
1441년(세종
23) 식년문과에 급제, 돈령부 주부 등을 거쳐 단종 때 집현전 직제학을
지내고, 1455년(세조 1) 인수부윤으로 사은부사가 되어 명나라에 다녀왔다.
1458년 호조참의에 이르렀다.
